D A L G O N A.
I am so excited to share this simple recipe with you all! This is my absolute new fave coffee recipe that can be made at home. I definitely enjoy this and it is a nice morning pick me up when I start my work for the day. I could never go back to a traditional brew.
Check out the recipe below!
Dalgona Coffee
I stumbled across this type of coffee watching one of my favorite youtubers, Antonnette and had to try the recipe! It was so delish and has a nice boost so I have been loving it. I literally feel like a barista, it’s so good. I’m not even a coffee drinker like that but know good coffee when I have it.
The Dalgona trend started in South Korea since Covid19 has been in our mist but it actually originated in India and goes by the name of Phenti Hui which means “beaten” coffee.“Dalgona” comes from a Korean honeycomb candy that goes by the same name. When whipped, the coffee mixture takes on a toffee-like consistency and color that makes it resemble the Korean candy.
It’s super simple to make and consists of a few simple ingredients which include, Instant Coffee, Granulated Sugar, Water and Milk. Yes, you have to use Instant coffee. There are no ways around it. That may be disappointing for some but coffee doesn’t hold the same foaming agent properties Instant coffee provides to get the whipped texture. No worries though, it’s still amazing!
Recipe Below!
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons instant coffee (I prefer Cafe Bustelo Espresso Instant Coffee)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons hot water
Ice, if desired
1 cup non- dairy milk of choice
Cinnamon to top-optional
Tools:
Bowl
Electric Hand Mixer (do not whisk by hand- it will take forever lol)
Glass
Straw
Directions:
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the instant coffee, sugar and hot water. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip until fluffy and toffee-colored, about 3-4 minutes.
Add your ice to a tall glass, if desired, and then pour over your milk. Spoon the whipped coffee on top. The more whipped coffee you use, the stronger the drink will be. Sprinkle with cocoa powder or cinnamon, if desired.
Using a spoon or straw, stir the coffee mixture into the milk before drinking
Notes:
This can be either a hot or cold beverage. Add either hot or cold milk for your temperature preference.
Add a dash of cinnamon in the whipped mixture and stir that in for taste before topping off your Dalgona.
You can make a Dalgona cocktail with topping this recipe off with whipped Bailey’s Irish cream. All you need is 3 tbsp of Irish Cream and 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream. I have yet to try but im sure it is absolutely delish!
I hope you all try it and love it as much as it did. Comment below if you like!
Enjoy!
xoxo
