Destress Your Days with These Tips.
Life can get a little overwhelming especially during this time especially with Covid-19 in the air and craziness going on with the media and police brutality that continues to go on in our community. Here are a couple ways to cope stress during these times.
Journal – Journaling is a great way to all of the thoughts circling in your brain out. Grab a piece of paper or a notebook and start jotting down all of your thoughts. Don’t worry about complete sentences just write! I like to start with this so when I move onto something else, my brain has freed all of these thoughts. Journaling hack: if you’re feeling stuck, try pulling a tarot card and see what thoughts come up from that.
Meditate – Mediating always feels a bit overwhelming but there are so many easy ways to meditate these days. Find a YouTube video of a meditation that you connect with or download an app that provides meditations. It can take five minutes or less and makes a huge difference! My favorite app is Insight Timer– it’s totally free!
Read – One of the best ways to “escape reality” is to crack open a book and get lost in the storyline. I like to stick to fiction books on stressful days because honestly, I don’t want a self help book or real story!
Art – I know this may seem intimidating …trust me, I know. Many of us have been told we aren’t artsy or creative but that is not true at all. Find something that you enjoy, that brings you peace and do it! You don’t have to be a professional or making money off it. Try this beginners painting tutorial on youtube or create and inspiring collage. Both are super relaxing and enjoyable.
Diffuse – I love to diffuse calming essential oils in my diffuser to start out stress-free evening. Some of my favorites include lavender, neroli and sandalwood – all known for their calming properties!
Move – I love me a great yoga session. At home yoga can be super relaxing and rejuvenating. I’ve always found that some gentle movement really helps my stress levels! If you’re not into yoga, go for a walk around your neighborhood or do a different type of workout.
Unplug – Recently, I have been turning off my phone to indulge in me. I’ve never realized how distracting our phones can really be and how much energy we give to topics that probably don’t deserve all the energy we give them. Try it for an hour and watch you get lost in You. Maybe you will organize your space, cook, listen to music, take a long bath the options are literally endless.
Dance – This can be really fun and improves my mood tremendously. Turn on your fave tunes and feel like that b*tch dancing around your space. So fun and amazing at de-stressing!
Sleep – If all else fails, I highly recommend hopping in bed and getting a good nights sleep. It’s always nice to start your morning off stress free and rejuvenated and a great nights rest will contribute to that.
I hope these tips help for de-stressing during this time.
Stay safe out here ladies!
xoxo
