Smudging is the act clearing and cleansing your spaces energy. It is used to gain spiritual protection and blessings and known to improve your spiritual health. My good friend Thandi was the one who first introduced me to spiritual practices and different information pertaining to spirituality years ago. One of the first things she showed me was how to use Sage to cleanse your space and your aura. The smell is somewhat strong but don’t worry you will get used to it. Once you get use to it, the smell is relaxing and you really feel the repelling of negative energy while doing it.

There are many different tools to smudge with, not just Sage. I would say Sage is the most popular today. People also like to use Palo Santo the “Holy Wood” but unfortunately the pant is becoming extinct due to its popularity. I would say that Palo Santo has a more mild sent thats more enjoyable but I will stop using it because of the extinction. I went back to using Sage because of that and it’s been nice.

Scientists have observed that sage can clear up to 94 percent of airborne bacteria in a space and disinfect the air. When sage is burned, it releases negative ions, which is linked to putting people into a positive mood.

Smudging can be useful when you’re feeling angry, sad, resentful or unwell. Cleanse your space after company comes over or if you feel as though the there has been any negative energy lingering.
